PS Dr. Chris Kiptoo, National Treasury, and Mr. Matteo Marchisio, IFAD Country Director for Kenya, have signed the Aide Memoire for the Mid-Term Review of the Rural Kenya Financial Inclusion Facility (RK-FINFA) Project, endorsing recommendations to expand the initiative from the initial 14 counties to nationwide coverage.
Jointly financed by the Government of Kenya and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), RK-FINFA is supporting smallholder farmers and agribusiness MSMEs to access financial services and strengthen their participation in agricultural value chains.
The Mid-Term Review also recommended strengthening sustainable agribusiness development through value-chain financing ecosystem models and enhancing coordination of project activities with County Governments.
The expansion will broaden access to financial services for farmers and agribusinesses, while strengthening financing linkages across agricultural value chains and supporting inclusive rural economic growth.
